Ghostbusters partners up with Dark Horse Comics, limited edition series announced for next year
As part of our continued Ghostbusters Day coverage, it’s been announced that the franchise is set to return to the world of comics, with a limited edition series expected to release next year from Dark Horse Comics.
The news was made as part of last night’s Ecto-Fest event taking place on the Sony Pictures Studios lot, with the filmmaking team of Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan making the reveal.
It appears that both Reitman and Kenan will serve as the series writers, with Kenan saying:
“We’ve got a unique story that we want to tell exclusively in a limited edition series.”
The series has been confirmed to be in canon and part of the ever-growing Ghostbusters story that began with the original 1984 film and was revived in last year’s sequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The news is no doubt welcome to comic fans, as previously, IDW published a variety of Ghostbusters stories and crossovers, starting in 2011. Complications due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused what would become the final comic released to be delayed, eventually hitting store shelves in July of 2020.
